Remembering Iditarod 2007

I decided to visit A & P in Anchorage for the first time earlier than I had originally planned. I had often thought that it would be great to see the start of the Iditarod Dog Sled Race some day but really never thought I would make the journey. When they moved up there in August, 2007 after their wedding, it gave me the perfect opportunity!

Snow Shoeing Still

I have done more snow shoeing in the last 3 weeks than I have done in my whole life to this point because of all the snow still here in Spokane. When I checked the depth in my garden on Saturday it was still at 18 inches despite the warmer weather in the daytime. It still gets pretty cold at night but that helps prevent a quick run-off and flooding.

As the Snow Goes...

These are from around my work in the mornings last week and this morning while snowshoeing in the fog. Lets see you try to give that one a hug, A4!

Moose Tracking Via Snowshoe

Yesterday and today I went shoeshoeing around home and came across some moose tracks that were 1-2 days old so I tracked its wanderings. It was eating some tips off of the Serviceberry bushes and despite the deep snow appeared to be moving well. With their very long legs it probably isn't so bad for them at 27 inches depth. The bottom picture is of Spokane from the 'viewpoint' near our house.
