Spring Has Sprung!

My little greenhouse is working well with Chile Peppers from New Mexico (Big Jim's) and two types of heirloom tomatoes from Seed Savers Exchange. The last photo was just before sunset next to our house and shows Grass Widow wildflowers and young Ponderosa Pine trees.

Deep Creek Trails near 9 Mile Falls, WA

Spitting popcorn snow on and off. The sun was out prior to and after my hike but not during. These trails are all but hidden and are rocky but in places remind me of a barren moonscape. The last photo shows the remains of our near record snowfall from this winter.

Hell's Gate

Codger Pole, Colfax

I was intending to explore a trail near the Oregon border but it was crawling with horseback riders and ATV's so I skipped it and had to settle for scenic shots from the side of the road. Then a WSU baseball game and then Sir Elton in Pullman, WA.

Hiking East of Fishtrap Lake

This hike is near Sprague, Washington and is easy to access from I-90. It should be really beautiful in a few weeks when the wildflowers are blooming! I only saw 3 buttercups today. I also saw a Great Horned Owl, lots of Robins, Mallards, Magpies, Pheasant, 2 Elk, several Canadian Geese, and I heard Redwinged Blackbirds and a Meadowlark.
